One Centre. One Day. Three Excursions.
What a wonderful day it was at Best Start Nottingham Avenue.
For Daffodil Day, we wanted to spread a little sunshine around our community. So today, all three of our rooms set off in different directions on three very special excursions. Armed with our handmade daffodils, our tamariki visited local shops and businesses, gifting them as a way to say "we see you, we appreciate you, and we're thinking of you".
The tamariki were so proud to hand out the daffodils, and the smiles we saw in refturn were just magic. Our tamariki loved seeing how their small gesture could brighten someones day, and it was such a powerful way for them to understand the joy of giving. What made it even more special, was seeing the ripple effect. Some people who saw the children out and about, later came back to the centre to donate to the cancer society. Today wasn't just about Daffodil day. It was about showing our children that they are part of something bigger, that their kindness matters and that even little hands can make a big difference.
Experiences like these build on Te Whariki's strands of Belonging and Contribution, helping our tamariko to see themselves as capable, confident and connected members of their community.
