BestStart Nottingham Avenue

Located in Halswell, Christchurch, BestStart Nottingham Avenue is a homely, long-established early learning centre where children aged 3 months to 6 years can feel safe, connected and supported as they learn and grow. Set across two converted houses, our centre has a warm, familiar feel with dedicated spaces and gardens that give tamariki plenty of opportunities to explore.

Whether your child is starting childcare for the first time or getting ready for school, our centre offers:

• Relationships nurture and support learning: Our centre vision guides everything we do, with strong, respectful relationships at the heart of how we support children's learning and wellbeing.
• Learning through discovery: From expressing themselves and developing language to investigating the world around them, our learning priorities encourage children to be curious, communicate and make sense of their surroundings.
• Set for School: As a lunchbox centre, children have regular opportunities to practise opening, managing and caring for their own lunch boxes, building practical self-care and independence skills that support a confident transition to school. We also provide nutritious morning and afternoon teas following Healthy Heart guidelines.
• Connected to our community: Strong relationships with local schools and regular excursions to places such as Te Hapua Halswell Library and Halswell Domain give tamariki opportunities to learn beyond the centre and become familiar with their local community.
• Room to explore: Our three age-appropriate classrooms are spread across two converted houses, each with its own adjoining garden, trees and playground, giving children different environments to discover throughout the day.
