The exciting news for BestStart Pipiwai Kindy is that we have welcomed two new bunnies to our whanau.

These two cute bunnies arrived just before Christmas and spent time with our Centre Manager before arriving at Kindy this week. They have had a quiet start to their time here at Kindy and are meeting everyone in stages. They both are very inquisitive and very active. We are looking forward to getting to know them and their personalities.

We have been discussing names and our tamariki are convinced that the black one will be called, Panther. The brown bunny has a couple of options for names with the favorite being, Caramel. When everyone is back from holiday and has had a chance to meet them and get to know them the final decision will be made.

We have attempted to grow sunflowers out the front of Kindy due to the dream of one of our boys who has a love for flowers. The first lot was demolished by snails, however, our lovely couple who mow the lawns donated another dozen for us to try. These have been planted in a different spot and are currently thriving and thanks to the Northland summer we have had enough rain to keep them growing.

We are looking forward to getting into the garden over the next couple weeks as we will be able to harvest our cabbages, optimistically the corn too, and tomatoes. Our pumpkin is doing amazing as is our spinach. We also planted aubergine so it will be interesting to see how that turns out.

We had a lovely Christmas party complete with delicious hangi and a very happy and lovely Santa joined us giving out gifts. Our kaiako were blessed with generous gifts too, which is never expected so it is a delightful surprise when it does happen. A few of our families are away over the next few weeks but we are open and enjoying a packed holiday programme.

There is a theme each day and experiences as well so come down and visit.

We wish you all a happy new year and that 2024 brings sunshine and good times.
