December was a joyful and memorable month at BestStart Pipiwai Road, filled with meaningful learning experiences and festive celebrations for our tamariki and whānau.

One of the highlights was a special visit from St John. We were delighted to welcome Ms Hayleigh, who led a fun and engaging discussion with the tamariki about real-life accidents they may encounter. Through book reading and open conversations, the children learned about emergencies and the important role ambulance officers play in keeping our community safe.

Ms Hayleigh also brought along an emergency bag, which sparked lots of curiosity. The tamariki explored the bag, identified the items inside, and learned their names and uses. They also enjoyed identifying the sounds of different emergency sirens, such as the ambulance and fire engine. The most exciting part was having a turn trying on the high-visibility vest and helmet, which brought plenty of smiles and excitement.

Another wonderful highlight of December was our Christmas Party, which was well attended by our whānau. The tamariki proudly presented Christmas songs they had been practising and were full of joy as they took part in a meet and greet with Santa, receiving their special presents.

The shared kai was plentiful, and it was lovely to see whānau spending time together, catching up with staff and other families in a warm and festive atmosphere. Whānau also took home a Christmas calendar and festive crafts to enjoy together during the holiday season.

These events strengthened our sense of community and provided valuable opportunities for connection, celebration, and learning. Thank you to our whānau for your ongoing support and for sharing these special moments with us. What a beautiful way to end the year at BestStart Pipiwai Road.
