Decorating cupcakes together
What a fantastic time we had together doing this special holiday activity, I felt very privileged to share my hobby with the children as we decorated cupcakes together!
The children were able to help make the butter cream icing, choose which colours to make and then take turns with the piping bags to decorate their very own cupcake.
While incredibly fun, this experience was about much more than just eating the end result!
We looked at early science concepts as we watched the butter whip and change consistency, we were able to talk about our colours as we chose which food colouring to add and then practiced our fine motor and hand eye co-ordination with the piping bags. We explored our creativity and practiced our communication skills as we figured out how to use the piping bags and convey what we wanted on our cupcake!
After all of this learning I felt that we had definitely earned our sweet treat!
