Deep Sea Divers
The nursery tamariki here at Beststart Silverstream have been on a deep sea dive - as a group we have been focusing on building relationships and connecting with our peers and animals have been a big part of our focus. This was an amazing way to come together and explore alongside one another sharing space and refining social skills. Our tamariki curious natures took the lead and they showed so much courage as dove right in as a part of a group. Some ran their matimati (fingers) through the deep rich blue salty water, whilst others carefully turned over the pua shells searching for slippery sea creatures - there was lots of exciting creatures hidden ready to jump out. Others scooped and poured the salty sea and were fully captivated in the calmness of this. Through this experience the tamariki extended and developed so many amazing skills. Some expressed their knowledge and understanding of sea life, enacting the sounds and movements that they make, delighting in sharing this, others scooped and tested gravity through tipping and pouring. This whole experience captivated and extended on everyones sense of belonging, development of friendships and fine motor skills. Check out the amazing concentration!
