Developing our social skills with our friends
Since settling back into the preschool routine again, we noticed our tamariki had re-established friendships and were initiating new relationships too. Our toddler room programme focus has been on supporting our tamariki to develop those friendships and learn ways to be a responsible friend. Having opportunities to share, take turns and negotiate rules of play has been such a large part of fostering those social skills with our tamariki. We've enjoyed playing 'Row, row, row your boat' together, preparing our garden beds for spring planting, carpentry and lining up to take turns running down a bouncy ramp. These are just a few examples of the group experiences tamariki have been doing together. We're learning with and from one another, in an ako approach.
