Recently as part of our current planning of ‘The Arts’ nga kaiako (the teachers) set up a wonderful dinosaur world for the children to explore based around some books the teachers had read to the children called 'Harry and his Bucketful of Dinosaurs'.

The children took a real shine to the table top set up and self-selected the dinosaurs of interest to them. They made them fly and stomp around and talk/ roar to the other dinosaurs at the table that their friends who were exploring also. The children cared for the dinosaurs ensuring that they all had nice big drinks of water from the watering hole and lots of leaves from trees (herbivores) or other dinosaurs (carnivores) to eat.

Some tamariki (children) made large soft nests with the saw dust for the dinosaur eggs.  There were lots of talking and roaring and interactions of many kinds and all tamariki worked well to share the space respectfully with each other.  We have also had lots of positive comments from parents about how much nga tamariki enjoyed the experience and told them all about it.
