With our room focus on connecting with our local curriculum and exploring the places and people that make up our community, we were excited to head out on a neighbourhood adventure.

After getting warmly dressed in our jackets and hats, everyone was safely secured in a buggy or back carrier, and we were ready to begin our adventure.

There was a real sense of excitement in the air as we set off together, eager to explore our local community. As we walked along the footpath, there was plenty to see and talk about. The children were fascinated by the cars, trucks, and buses travelling past, eagerly pointing them out and sharing their observations.

We chatted about the different colours, sizes, and sounds of the vehicles, and stopped occasionally to wave to friendly people passing by. When we arrived at Terra Viva, we settled comfortably around our table and enjoyed a delicious morning tea together. The hot chips, savoury muffins, and yummy biscuits were a big hit, and the children delighted in sharing this special treat with their friends. It was a lovely opportunity to relax, connect, and enjoy being together in a different environment.

With full tummies and happy smiles, we headed off to explore the garden centre. The children were curious and engaged as they wandered through the displays of plants and flowers. We stopped to smell fragrant blooms, admired the bright colours around us, and talked about the different shapes, textures, and sizes of the plants we discovered. There were many opportunities for conversation as we explored, with children pointing out things that caught their attention and sharing their wonder about the natural world. The garden centre provided a rich sensory experience, encouraging curiosity, observation, and exploration. The children enjoyed listening to the sounds around them, feeling different leaves and flowers, and discovering new things at every turn.

On our journey back to preschool, we had an important job to do. We delivered a letter to our neighbours about Eleanor, our chicken. This gave the children an opportunity to participate in a meaningful community experience and helped strengthen our connection with those around us. It was a wonderful morning filled with exploration, conversation, and community connection. Through the outing, the children developed their understanding of the world around them, strengthened friendships, and enjoyed a range of new experiences.

There were plenty of smiles, lots of interesting discussions, and many memorable moments as we explored our local neighbourhood together. Everyone returned to preschool happy, engaged, and excited to share stories about their adventure.
