Diwali 2021 at BestStart Tōtara Park
The month of November started with celebrating Diwali at BestStart Totara Park. Diwali is the festival of lights and one of the biggest Indian festivals. We planned to learn the song about Diwali in Hindi "Aayi Diwali, Aayi Diwali" and practised dance on one of the Hindi songs. We also introduced children to Rangoli colours and the patterns that could be created with them. One of the things that symbolises celebration in Indian culture is the use of ‘Henna’. So, we also created patterns of Henna on children’s hands. It was a fun-filled week of celebrating Diwali where we all get to learn and experiment with the Indian cultural resources, music, dance and
