What a truly magical Diwali celebration we shared last Friday!
After a week of rain, the sunshine returned just in time as if the universe knew it was our day to celebrate light, love, and togetherness.
Our tamariki gathered with excitement as teachers shared the beautiful story of Diwali- a tale of hope, kindness, and the triumph of light over darkness. Their little faces lit up with curiosity and wonder.
Afterwards, they poured their hearts into creating colourful Rangoli patterns and decorating their very own Diya lamps, each one glowing with pride and joy. The celebration came alive with dancing and laughter as our tamariki and teachers moved to the rhythm of joyful music.
Though we had planned a simple in-house celebration (as Onam was just recently), our hearts were touched when some parents surprised us by coming along, bringing a homemade cake and sharing warm smiles. Even neighbours walking by stopped to watch and chat, adding to the feeling of community and connection that makes our kindy so special and, of course, the delicious vegetarian dishes and sweet Jalebi were the perfect way to complete our celebration, where every bite was filled with love and happiness.
At BestStart Jones Crescent Kindy, we cherish every opportunity to celebrate the many cultures that make up our kindy whānau. Each celebration is more than a special day, it’s a moment to teach our tamariki to be proud of who they are, to appreciate others, and to grow up with open hearts and open minds.
