At BestStart Jones Crescent we treasure nature!

At BestStart Jones Crescent one of our biggest treasures (other than our children and families) is what we call our orchard. Our orchard is filled with fruit trees for us to climb, and and tasty treats for us to try! The orchard is also where we dig for worms and explore logs for bugs to feed our animals! The orchard is home to three chickens and two rabbits, but we also have a frog.

From the street we may look like a regular kindy but we are a hidden oasis of nature. With our orchard as our muse, we find ways to incorporate nature into all of our classrooms throughout the centre, we have an indoor, outdoor flow of natural resources and activities.

There is as much to treasure in nature as there is to treasure in each child in our care. Just like the diversity of nature each child brings something unique and valuable to our learning community. 

Our Team

Our team are always learning and growing, just like the children! We learn as much from them as they do from us. We are a small but close team with each teacher bringing their own unique skills to the table. We aim is to instill an awareness of our children’s individual uniqueness and have respect for themselves, others, and their immediate surroundings. With regular professional development and learning from one another we are consistently upskilling to provide the best possible care and education to our BestStart Jones Crescent family.

Our Spaces

We believe the environment is a third teacher. The way it is set up and what is available for children to explore influences how and what they learn. Each space is set up thoughtfully keeping in mind the developmental stage children are at, and knowing what they are interested in exploring and ensuring they have the freedom to explore these.
