At BestStart Parkside our tamariki are doing great mahi, making their own gifts for special occasions and special people in their lives. Children were prompted to think of and brainstorm ideas for gift making for this Father's day and other special persons in their family. Teachers were very mindful of single parent households and gift making conversations were carried out with respect and in consultation with our beautiful singles mum's, who also play the role of dads in the children's lives.

We salute these strong role models. Children finally voted and decided to make photos holders. We used plaster of Paris, popsicle sticks and tie printable which the children colored. Children also helped laminate and glue gunned  their individual photo. All the parents were very happy and proud of their child's mahi. Children are empowered to use their skills, develop creative ideas which will foster Kaitiakitanga and motivate them to innovative and create in future.

At Beststart Parkside kaiako are planning for teaching and learning which fosters skills, attitude and dispositions, getting tamariki "Set for School". Children really enjoy engaging in activities which are planned with them. They love sharing their ideas and making decisions inspires and motivates them. Teamwork is really big at Parkside  Plus why buy, when you can create.
