EGGcellent fun!
What an EGGcellent week we have had at BestStart Waltham Kindy. Tamariki have been getting create for Easter through creating artwork on rocks, creating bunny ears, colouring and assembling Easter baskets, even making delicious hot cross buns! Tamariki received a special letter in the mailbox from Mr Easter Bunny along with some magical rocks in the garden. Originally these rocks were created by tamariki and kaiako but after sending them to Mr Easter Bunny he left some magical glitter on the rocks so that once they were collected by tamariki and taken home, he would be able to find them to deliver the delicious eggs on Sunday!
Through exploring Easter through materials rather then sweets we are encouraging children to enjoy Easter without magical sweets! Throughout the experience tamariki were also able to develop taha whanau, social well being as they created and gifted rocks and Easter baskets to their friends. Taha whanau is important for tamariki to develop as it encourages manaakitanga and building respectful relationships.
