Embracing samoan language week

Talofa lava!

 Happy Samoan language Week

Our fanau (children), Matua and Faiaoga  children celebrated Samoan Language Week today at the centre. This celebration is very important for our Centre as it embraces our  centre philosophy that we value and respect the child and their family and seek to include them into our centre for who they are as this strengthens their sense of self and identity. It also develops awareness of cultural diversity and how vibrant and colourful our centre is with a rich cultural mix of Fanau and Matua. Our centre values of Aroha, Respect, Trust and diversity is woven so well for what we do and why we do this at Everglade Preschool.

A sense of belonging is created for everyone providing Fanau, a home away from home as we are moving with a vision of an inspiring centre which stands out where we create colourful creative cultures working in a collaborative community.

We celebrated by dressing in traditional clothes, one of our lovely parents showed us some traditional dances and the children loved to see the different patterns made-up in their colouring activity.
