Here at BestStart Kelvin Grove, our centre values are in all that we do - and what amazing EMAPTHY ("I show kindness, care and understanding for others") and TEAMWORK (I am part of a team with my friends and teachers") is shown, through the ways we support different charities.

For Daffodil Day, we all dressed in yellow, brought in a donation for the Cancer Society and danced the day away at our Daffodil Day Disco. For Pink Shirt Day, we talked about including everyone and showing kindness, we all dressed in pink (the children were delighted to see some Dad's even wearing pink!) and families brought in a donation for the anti-bullying campaign lead by the Mental Health Foundation.

Through our centre support of different charities, children are developing an awareness of, and are encouraged to value, community and participation for the common good. It's also an example of how we are living our vision, "At one with child, whānau and community".
