Empowering our tamariki
In the Preschool we have been working to better empower our tamariki, helping them to develop independence and self-help skills along the way. We have worked with the tamariki to provide them with opportunities to take charge of key areas of the routine, their play and planned experiences. The tamariki have stepped up to the challenge, with getting themselves dressed and kai time in particular being a great success. During kai times, the tamariki are able to serve themselves with their own kai and water, have scissors to open their packets and wipe their own faces with a special mirror.
