This year we wanted to do something different for our whanau and tamariki. As we have such a diverse range of cultures and religions, we wanted to make an all-inclusive get-together.

We decided to take the end-of-year party to the park across the road (Te Inuwai Park). Those who were able to come met there had some yummy kai, face painting was a highlight, and spent some time with each other.

Talented kaiako and their face painting were a highlight. Being fortunate enough to have the playground right beside us was also a highlight for our tamariki. One of our whanau members also brought their dog to the event which was also a real highlight for our tamariki, who got to spend time with Evie (the dog).

It was a lovely opportunity to spend time with our whanau outside of the centre environment, and it was also a lovely time for whanau to be able to stop and enjoy the company of other whanau members and kaiako, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It was beautiful to see grandparents come as well and to see three generations of whanau together to celebrate.

We had some wonderful feedback on the morning and will be looking forward to doing this again next year.
