Our tamariki are loving the new wide, open spaces in our playground at Best-Start Russell Street.
There's lots of room for them to run around, chase after flying soap bubbles, do some pavement chalk art, play football or play a decent game of catch.
It's a great outdoor space for everyone to enjoy and the children are really loving it! We have a new water play area with running water that tamariki are enjoying, especially on warm days. We have a messy outdoor space for imaginary messy play, whether it’s sensory or imaginative.
They are spending ages in the sandpit, too—they love the challenge of making rivers, moving and digging sand around to create their play. The new ramp has been getting a great workout. It’s straightforward, but it’s great for the kids who need that big movement and speed.
It keeps them busy and helps them practise taking turns. The bike track has been very busy and the tamariki have loved the challenge of trying to maneuver over the bumps and freewheeling down the tracks.
We have had balancing and building equipment across the lawns for tamariki to enjoy and group storytimes and interactive games with the teachers too.
The new playground has really been utilised and loved by our tamariki and has enabled lots of fun, learning and play to help them grow and develop for school and for life.
