We are thrilled to share the exciting transformation of our outdoor environment here at BestStart Whangamatā!
Our playground has recently undergone a fantastic revamp, creating even more opportunities for our tamariki to learn, explore, and connect with the natural world.
One of the biggest highlights has been the addition of our brand-new bike tracks. These have quickly become a favourite, with tamariki developing their confidence, coordination, and road safety awareness as they ride, race, and navigate the winding paths together.
Our sandpit has also had a wonderful makeover, doubling in size and now featuring all-weather surfacing around it. This means our tamariki can enjoy digging, building, and imaginative play all year round, whatever the weather brings! As part of the redevelopment, we've introduced a variety of native plants throughout our outdoor space, helping our tamariki build a deeper connection with Aotearoa's unique environment.
Alongside these, we've planted vegetable gardens that the tamariki help care for. Watching our vegetables grow provides wonderful opportunities to learn about sustainability, responsibility, and where our food comes from. Best of all, we're excited to share our harvest with our whānau whenever we can. Since reopening, our tamariki have embraced every corner of the new playground with excitement and curiosity. From exploring the new bike tracks and creating masterpieces in the expanded sandpit to caring for our gardens, every day has been filled with discovery, laughter, and meaningful learning.
Our refreshed outdoor environment reflects our commitment to providing rich, engaging spaces where tamariki can thrive through play, develop confidence, and build a lifelong connection with nature. We can't wait to continue making memories in our beautiful new playground and to welcome our whānau to enjoy it alongside us.
