Exploring Dinosaurs
This came from a strong interest with a group of children so to help them learn more through play we provided them with opportunities to explore in different areas of play within the centre. Literacy and Math; reading all about dinosaurs in the books we had out, puzzles involving matching shapes and finding the right pieces. Imaginative play; placing fake footprints on the floor to provoke storytelling and creativity. Messy Play; 'dinosaur snot' to provide tamariki the chance to explore textures and experiment with. Fine motor skills; making our own fossils which were then placed in the sandpit so we could go for an 'archaeologist dig'
