This morning I went outside and collected a whole lot of different leaves and flowers from around the building to do some sticky nature art with our children.

I stuck some duraseal on a low shelf with the sticky side up and placed the basket of nature items on the end.

Our tamariki were instantly intrigued. Peering into the basket to see what was I there our tamariki picked out what they wanted placing it on the sticky duraseal they were fascinated. Putting their hands on and trying to then take their hands off feeling the funny texture they were curious.

On a leaf we food a bug and this was all very exciting.

Hands on experiences with natural materials offer children opportunities to develop theories on how things work in the living world.

It also develops a sense of curiosity with children as they explore with natural resources.
