After lunch today we had a quick tidy up of the classroom before we sat down at the table to explore our taste buds. We had to horoi o ringa ringa (wash our hands) before we could begin. Once all the mokopuna were seated they were all handed a bowl. Firstly we looked at cherry tomatoes and talked about the different colours that they come in. We cut them in half and each took a bite, talking to our neighbours about what it tasted like. The majority of the group enjoyed them. Next we moved onto the blueberries, these were gone in seconds. The sweet taste was hard to resist. We tried lettuce, chutney , salt, sugar, marmite then tried something most hadn't tried before... Apple cider vingar. I poured a tiny amount into the cups and asked them to all drink it at once. There were a lot of funny faces being pulled. To my surprise most of the group said they liked it and asked for more! To finish it off we had a delicious marshmallow.

We then talked about what was our favourtie flavour and if it was sweet/salty/sour. What a great time we spent together discovering new foods.
