Today at BestStart Totara Street we were exploring the Samoan culture through art. As it is Samoan language week we are discovering the beautiful culture by creating tapa cloth. Other Samoan arts include tatau, siapo, and ie toga, which are body art, decorative fabric, and fine mats. By expressing ourselves through art it promotes creativity, confidence, assists with problem solving skills, patience and determination. Not to mention the fact we have beautiful art work to display proudly on the walls for our whanau to admire.
