Exploring Seeley's Gully
Seeley's Gully is a regular excursion that happens every Tuesday at Montessori School House.
We walk down hand in hand with small groups to visit the beautiful nature walk. On our way we pass different trees, birds and scenery out in our community that we discuss, observe, draw and then bring back to the centre with the children.
These discussions allow and enhance the contribution of children as they get the chance to tell us what they see, hear, smell or feel within their surroundings each time. It further gets them to use mathematic skills as they count the branches and flowers on the tress or discuss the numbers on letter boxes along the way.
It encourages them to feel the texture of rocks, bark of trees, and dried up leaves and stimulates the children's appreciation for the natural world around them. Giving them numerous chances for making discoveries, be creative, solve problems, think and
evaluate.
