Exploring Textures
We promote play as learning here at BestStart Salisbury Street. Our curriculum is child led and we believe that children take the lead in their own learning.
Over the last month the children have been focused on exploring the textures of recyclable materials. Children are learning through every interaction with a new texture, cause and effect as they make a sound as they scrunch and feel the way the leaves feel being mixed in the sand.
Play is learning! The children were learning social skills while further developing their fine motor skills as they use their hands to explore the feel of the sand running through their fingertips. Pressing, squeezing and manipulating the sand to co-create and express their creativity.
