Exploring the world of pukapuka
In te ruma Tūī, our youngest tamariki are embarking on an exciting journey through the world of pukapuka! In our infant and toddler room, we believe in the power of early literacy and the joy of storytelling, which are evident in the keen interest our infants and toddlers are showing in reading and listening to pukapuka.
Our tamariki are captivated by colorful illustrations and engaging narratives that stimulate their imagination and curiosity. From board books with touch-and-feel textures to interactive tales about our favourite farm yard animals or a little red firetruck that prompt giggles and wonder, every pukapuka holds a special place in our room. Our kaiako foster a nurturing environment where reading is celebrated daily.
Through gentle encouragement and planned/spontaneous reading sessions, tamariki are developing essential language skills while building a foundation for a lifelong love of reading. As we observe their growing fascination with pukapuka, we are committed to supporting their literacy development with age-appropriate resources and cozy reading corners that invite exploration and discovery.
