Expressing ourselves through paint
In the Ruma Pōtiki at BestStart Lemon Street we enjoy exploring the concepts of science, literacy and mathematics through painting. Tamariki love mixing the colours together, using brushes, rollers but most of all their hands and fingers. Painting can support children to develop hand, eye, and body coordination, develop finger and hand muscles required later for handwriting, use shape, form and colour to express themselves in ways they do not have words for yet. Painting is great fun and in the Ruma Pōtiki tamariki are provided the resources and opportunities inside and out to have a full painting experience with no expectations of the final product. Tamarik really enjoy working alongside each other developing skills in learning and playing together while being creative.
