Fairy and Elf Garden

Fairy and Elf Garden

It's time to get outside and create some magic in your garden. Not only does this activity allow imagination to run wild, but the opportunities to learn about nature are endless. This project can span over a couple of weeks.

Things you will need
A small patch of garden
A variety of natural resources such as shells, pebbles, stones and driftwood

How to do it
Together, choose an area in your garden for your child’s fairy and elf garden. Ask your child what might be added to the garden.

A fairy swing? An elf seat?. A pebble pathway? A tiny door?

Suggest your child look around the house or garden for things to add. They could even make some simple objects. Encourage your child to collect natural resources for your magical garden when out and about. Ask open-ended questions such as, ‘Where do the elves and fairies end up when they go through the door?

What learning is occurring
Learning to explore and express imaginative ideas.

Tips

You could purchase some special plant to enhance your fairy and elf environment
Talk with your child about looking after the environment so that it's nice for all people, elves and fairies to enjoy.
Encourage your child to tell you a story about the special place you created.
