In the Pūkeko room family & dramatic play is a popular area of play for ngā tamariki where they love to wrap their “babies” in blankets & rock them to sleep or give them a gentle pat on the back like the kaiako do for them when they go to bed! With handbags over the shoulder and a wave goodbye, our friends like to go “shopping” too.

We also enjoy pretending to cook in both our indoor and outdoor kitchens. Family and dramatic play can help children to learn to socialize and communicate, understand new experiences, learn the language, and practice using it, express their feelings, gain confidence and practice problem-solving.

Kaiako/teachers love supporting our toddlers with both verbal and non-verbal development and developing social skills in this area.
