Feet are often forgotten as a wonderful tool for painting as well as exploring the sense of touch. Simple feet paintings combine both and are sure to bring on lots of giggles!

So today we embraced our artistic feet and got to work...

BALANCE & CROSSING THE MIDLINE

It got a bit slippery and required the tamariki to employ their best balancing skills. Balancing activities encourage children to cross over the different sides of their bodies. This helps children make connections between the left and right side of their brains and is absolutely essential for gross motor, cognitive and emotional development.

There are so many benefits to switching up and exploring painting with our feet and I think it is clear to see that the tamariki were living their best messy play lives as they strolled up and down the paper, leaving their mark and mixing colours as they went!

Others areas of development strengthened through a little feet painting are:

- sensory exploration
- color exploration
- creativity
- artistic expression
- gross motor development (specifically balance)
- language development
