Fijian Language Week In the heart of BestStart Dixon Heights there's always room for celebrating diverse cultures and languages. We embarked on a vibrant journey to celebrate Fijian Language Week, immersing our tamariki in the beautiful traditions and language of Fiji.

Through a series of engaging activities, we sought to instill an appreciation for Fijian culture and language from a young age. The little hands that usually reach for toys were carefully weaving vibrant paper mats, a Fijian craft tradition. Tapa cloth painting was another thrilling endeavor.

Our young artists dipped their tiny fingers into brown and black paint, creating abstract designs on the paper. As each unique masterpiece emerged, the room was filled with delighted giggles and exclamations. Coloring a Fijian house and crafting the Fijian flag from playdough were equally enchanting activities.

Through these simple yet meaningful exercises, our little learners absorbed the essence of Fijian culture, all while having endless fun. These experiences provide our young ones with a rich understanding, acceptance, and curiosity about the world around them. Fijian Language Week may have ended, but the love for learning and celebrating diverse cultures continues to flourish within our infant room.
