Finding Our Place
We’ve had a very exciting month with our BestStart Raumati whānau joining us while their centre renovations are under way. We’ve been on an amazing journey where our tamariki have been making more new friends as well as exploring new activities and experiences with the support of their Raumati kaiako. The transition went very smoothly and we’ve all been having a great time. We certainly have a keen ropu/group of explorers, scientists, builders and artists!
We’ve had lots of birthdays to celebrate this month already and we’ve also had our holiday programme to add to some amazing, fun experiences. We were thrilled to be able to get back into baking with our baking day where our tamariki made scones in the morning/ata and muffins in the afternoon/ahiahi. Baking is such a fantastic experience for supporting tamariki in early maths with measuring but also learning how to safely prepare kai and also enjoy the finished product.
Our tamariki had a “wheely” good time for wheels day where we closed off our car park to create a race track and tamariki had an opportunity to race around on their bikes and scooters practising manoeuvring at speed and managing their awareness of space.
Disco dress up day was next and we got to kanikani to a range of music from all around the world and challenge our bodies with different ways of moving. Our final holiday programme day was a relaxing day in our PJ’s which helped set the mood for our movie day.
Next month we’ll be celebrating Diwali and hosting a whānau disco night! We can’t wait to tell you all about it!
