Here at BestStart Aidanfield we love to play in the water on hot sunny days! The tamariki enjoy putting on their togs and getting wet. This month we froze a whole load of rubber sea creatures in an ice cream container with water, red food coloring and gold glitter. The children loved trying to get the sea creatures out by pouring some warm water over the top to try and melt the ice, getting other water play toys to try and break the ice and just trying to pull it apart with their hands. This is teaching them the cause and effect of how ice is made and how it melts, working on their fine motor skills and what sea creatures there are and the color of them when they are set free from the ice. The tamariki really enjoyed this activity and we will be doing it again soon!
