What an amazing week we’ve had! Every day was packed with fun, laughter, and some very messy hands as we explored all 16 areas of play at our centre.

Each activity was designed to honour children’s voices, interests, and choices, drawing inspiration from the Reggio Emilia philosophy.

Our tamariki have been deeply engaged in exploring, creating, and expressing themselves through a variety of play experiences. Each moment offered opportunities for them to share ideas and collaborate with friends — reflecting their natural curiosity and sense of wonder.

From imaginative dress-ups and creative projects to messy sensory exploration and active outdoor play, the environment buzzed with laughter and discovery. It was inspiring to see how children took ownership of their learning — asking questions, solving problems, and supporting one another along the way.

These experiences reflected not only the children’s interests but also their growing sense of identity and belonging. Through social play, they built friendships and empathy; through sensory and messy play, they explored cause and effect; and through active play, they developed coordination, balance, and confidence.

Each of the 16 areas of play— from fine motor and cognitive development to creative arts and emotional wellbeing — was honoured through intentional yet flexible experiences that allowed children to take the lead.

Their discoveries and conversations showed how deeply they learn when their ideas are valued and their play is respected as meaningful learning. Their confidence, creativity, and connections with others continue to flourish beautifully.
