In October 2023, the centre organised a Whānau Disco Night, inviting parents and family members to join in on the fun. The centre was decorated and a dance floor was set up for everyone to enjoy. It was a night filled with laughter, music, and lots of dancing. All the tamariki at BestStart Onehunga had the chance to show off their moves alongside their friends, family members, and teachers. Some parents joined in and boogied down with everyone else.

The atmosphere was vibrant and engaging, thanks to the dress-up theme that many participants embraced. The Whānau Disco Night provided an excellent opportunity for tamariki, whanau, and kaiako to come together and create unforgettable memories. It was heart-warming to see everyone enjoying themselves on the dance floor, sharing a meal, and building connections between families and educators. Music played a significant role throughout the evening as it brought people together through movement. Joyous energy filled the room as tamariki danced with their loved ones while teachers cheered them on.

Overall, this event showcased the importance of community involvement in early childhood education. By inviting parents and family members into our learning environment, we fostered strong relationships between home and centre. The Whānau Disco Night will be remembered as a night of fun-filled moments that brought us all closer together.
