The children plant new seedlings, water the vegetable gardens and keep it weed free. Amazing learning experiences happen from our nursery to preschool as children observe the plants grow and bear fruits. The gardens attract a lot of insects and bugs which also provide a great opportunity for discussions on insects and bugs. The fruits and vegetables are used by children to prepare their lunches at the centre.

In these pictures, the preschool children have harvested tomatoes and enjoyed eating/tasting them. We had some great discussions and sharing of ideas around why the children thought the tomatoes were ready for picking. Responses like “they are red”, “it is ripe”, “shiny” and it got ripe from the sun”.

Our nursery children engaging with their teacher planting some new seedlings in their garden, watering it and caring for it. It was a healthy and fun experience.
