Recently at BestStart Waiwhetu we have noticed that our young friends have become very interested in observing and exploring the changes occurring in our gardens.

Of particular interest has been the flowers that have popped up all over the place from the wildflower seeds that I had scattered, such amazing colours as flowers of all different shapes and sizes have appeared. These have been attracting butterflies and bees to our garden which is always exciting to see.

Our snails, which we have been caring for also had babies! What an exciting thing to become parents to snail babies!

The Exploration strand highlights that children learn through engaging with people as well as their natural environment. Through offering experiences such as gardening and observing plants and insects in their natural environment, we are supporting our children to connect with and care for their world.
