During December the kaiako (teachers) and tamariki (children) at BestStart Oamaru Kindy have been really getting into the Christmas spirit. We have been decorated our centre Christmas tree and have been doing lots of arts and crafts with all sorts of paint, glitter and other fun crafty things. The tamariki are also really enjoying Christmas music and dancing.

Among all the festivals in the world Christmas is very popular and is celebrated by billions of people around the world. In this part of the world, Santa or Father Christmas is what makes the season come alive to tamariki. Christmas decorations and lights also add to that magical and exciting feeling. Everywhere they look they see signs of Christmas. And when Christmas morning finally comes and they find gifts left by Santa, the entire season can and does bring wonder and magic into their lives. This year the kaiako have been asking our whānau from all around the world how they celebrate Christmas so we can incorporate this into our centre programme.
