This week the kaiako (teachers) put out green Gloop to spark the tamariki's curiosity and sense of wonder. The tamariki had a fantastic time exploring the gloop using their senses.

The tamariki had the opportunity to explore and help with the process of making the gloop, mixing it together and then exploring the gloop once it was made. While exploring the tamariki were developing their social skills as they explored alongside each other, sharing their learning space, taking turns and using non verbal communication and facial expressions/body language to communicate.

Gloop is a non-newtonian fluid, meaning that is acts like both a liquid and a solid substance.  This really interested the tamariki and sparked their curiosity - they loved when Gemma and I picked up the gloop and then let it run off our hands. The state of the classroom, smiles, giggles and time they spent exploring the gloop was evident of a great learning experience filled of fun!
