Goats come to BestStart North Road!

We have had a long history with Animals at BestStart North Road. Over the years we have had chickens, rats, axolotl, rabbits, fish, birds, tadpoles, and frogs. We are very lucky that a lot of our Whanau live rurally and love sharing their lifestyle with us. Today we had Alby and his whanau bring in some baby goats to show us.

We had some discussions and did some investigating in the lead-up to them coming to preschool and this brought up some questions and things we wanted to know so we wrote them down so we didn't forget. When they arrived they were so happy to see everyone they were on leads but didn't follow commands like puppies do! We went out to the carpark and took turns feeding them milk from bottles with teats which they were very keen to drink from. It was different from feeding our babies as the goats were much more enthusiastic!

We love that our whanau took the time to bring in the goats to share their knowledge and a bit about their farm with us. The learning that occurs through this is that it helps us connect to the wider world, making connections between people, places, and things in their world | te waihanga hononga.
