At Best Start Silverdale we have recently been celebrating our 5-year-olds transitioning to school.  We invite our families to our graduation ceremony where we have a special mat time sharing all their stories and successes during their time with us.  We gift our children a pounamu for strength, courage, and confidence on their new journey, along with a certificate and a school pack.

Our Kaiako ensure our tamarkii are well prepared for school by providing a transition to school programme with solid foundation of early literacy and numeracy as well as social, emotional, and self-help skills.  Our Manaia and Maui Preschool rooms provide more complex challenging and stimulating group activities to further develop and extend our tamariki’s abilities in fun and interactive ways.  We work in partnership with our local schools ensuring a smooth and successful transition to school.
