Graduation Day
Graduations are a pretty big deal here at BestStart Russell Street. We recognise the significance of this milestone and we make it really special. This is Abel's graduation.
During a graduation ceremony the child gets a special mat time experience where their focus teacher shares special moments about this child with the rest of the class. A special poem is read out and the child is given a gift. They get to wear a special korowai which they sew their own feather onto before they graduate. Family members and the child's new entrants teacher is invited to come along to the ceremony too.
To end the tradition the children in the rest of the class form a tunnel by linking hands. The child walks through the tunnel to symbolise their transition from our early childhood centre to their new school environment.
