Grandparents' Day is a special occasion where we celebrate the amazing grandparents who play an important role in the lives of our tamariki, whether they are related by blood or love. At BestStart Burnside, we organised a "stay and play" event where we invited all the grandparents in the lives of our tamariki to come and spend some quality time with their moko.

The turnout was fantastic, and we were delighted to see all the grandparents come together to celebrate this special day. We shared kai and engaged in fun activities showcasing the amazing learning our tamariki do at the centre each day. It was heartwarming to see our tamariki proudly showing off some of their favourite things to do at the centre and the grandparents enjoying the opportunity to explore alongside their favourite people.

At BestStart Burnside, we are proud of our community and see ourselves as one big family. Gathering families on Grandparents' Day helps us get to know the people who guide our tamariki at home and enables us to understand how to best support them in their learning journey.

The tamariki's funds of knowledge brought to the centre are enriched through their whānau, and it is a privilege to share this experience with them. Kei te ora, kei te whakatipu te tamaiti kei waenganui i tōna ake whānau A child lives and grows within the context of a family or a community
