Grandparents' Day at BestStart Tauranga Central was a memorable occasion, with plenty of activities that brought families together.
It was a great opportunity for grandparents to spend time with their mokopuna (grandchildren) while getting a glimpse of their everyday learning environment.
The day started with sharing kai (food), where children enjoyed their morning tea and grandparents enjoyed some special treats. There were also plenty of chances to connect through activities like sharing stories, dancing and singing, and playing games.
The children proudly shared their portfolios, showcasing their progress and accomplishments in a meaningful way. Storybook time was a particularly popular moment, allowing grandparents, grandchildren and kaiako (teachers) to enjoy reading together.
It was also a great time for grandparents to meet kaiako, explore the centre with their grandchildren, and see how we support each child's development. Throughout the morning, new friendships were made, and the sense of community was evident. Grandparents were able to engage with their grandchildren's learning while also learning more about the values and environment at the centre.
We look forward to future events like this, where whānau (families) can come together and create lasting memories while learning about the important role our kaiako and centre play in children's learning and development.
