Today Jess made some slime for the Ruma Pukeko children to explore. The slime was a nice green colour with a fragrant smell and slimy texture for the children to explore.

Miss Jess talked to us about how to use our nose to smell, the children took big breaths through their nose taking in and creating knowledge about the smell of this material.

Miss Jess next showed us how to stretch and pull the slime. All the children were so excited to see the slime digging from Miss Jess’s hands and gave it a go digging their hands into the slime and reaching up high to watch it fall. The children also used explored the texture of the slime by rubbing their hands together, rubbing their hands on the table, hitting the slime and squeezing the slime through their finger.

Through out this exploration the children were able to gain lots of knowledge about different properties of the slime such the look, the smell and the fell of it. The children used their sense of smell, sight and touch to create this knowledge.
