Our Over Twos Preschool & Prep Room children have been continuing to develop their imagination and creativity through exploration with loose parts play. This exciting learning journey began with a collection of natural resources, including shells, driftwood, feathers and other treasures from nature. Carefully displayed on a nature table with natural coverings, these open-ended materials invited children to sit together, explore and bring their ideas to life.
As the children engage with these resources, we have observed a wonderful increase in communication and collaboration. Their growing confidence is evident as they share their thoughts, explain their ideas and discuss what they are creating with their chosen loose parts. Through these conversations, knowledge is exchanged, problem-solving skills are strengthened and imaginations flourish.
Loose parts play has also supported the development of positive relationships across the room. Older children naturally model their thinking and creative processes, while younger children observe, imitate and learn alongside them. These moments of shared discovery create meaningful connections and a strong sense of belonging within our learning environment.
The room has been filled with life, curiosity and imagination. Alongside the excitement of creativity, there is also a calm and peaceful atmosphere that emerges when young minds are deeply engaged in meaningful play.
As children explore, create and learn, they are developing an appreciation for the natural world and the endless possibilities that can be found within its simple treasures.
