Growing our winter garden with BestStart Sir Tristram Avenue
As part of our bicultural journey, we plan around the seasons. Over the last few winter months, we have been looking at and planting what grows in our winter garden and supporting the children to understand that rain is important for the garden and rain helps plants to grow.
We also discovered that lots of weeds were also growing, so it was out into the garden we went and pulled out those weeds.
As part of our science journey and early math's, we have been collecting and plotting on a chart how much rain falls in a week, so we could figure out if we had to water our veggie garden, so our veggies and herbs could grow.
We have finally come to the end of winter, so we decided to say farewell to winter with a soup and bread lunch. We invited our whanau to come and enjoy some soup with us during lunch.
