Growing potatoes
The environment is one of the key areas for learning in our centre. While this is a very broad topic, in this instance we are talking about the physical environment and growing our own fruit and vegetables.
In October our families brought a bucket and a seed potato to grow at home. At our Christmas party in December they are going to bring them back to see how well they have grown. Families were able to choose the type of mix they used and how they care for their growing potato.
Here's a photo of the one that I started a home two weeks ago. I was very excited when early this week I could see the beginnings of the leaves coming through. The children were very excited!
