Every great journey begins with a first step, and at BestStart Reynolds Green, we are excited to begin ours!

As a new early learning centre, we are creating a welcoming community where children feel safe, valued and connected, and where every day brings new opportunities to explore, discover and grow.

Guided by our local curriculum, Growing Together with Whenua, we believe in the importance of building meaningful relationships, encouraging curiosity and providing children with opportunities to learn through play. As we get to know our children and whānau, we are beginning to see their unique personalities, interests and growing confidence shine through in their everyday experiences.

Our children have been enjoying a variety of exciting learning experiences, both indoors and outdoors.

Painting has provided wonderful opportunities for creativity and self-expression. As children explore colours, experiment with different materials and create their own artwork, they are developing fine motor skills, making choices and expressing their ideas in their own unique ways. We celebrate the process as much as the finished creation, recognising the curiosity, imagination and learning behind every little masterpiece.

Outdoors, bike riding has become a fun way for children to develop their physical skills and confidence. As they pedal, steer and navigate their way around the track, they are strengthening their balance, coordination and body awareness. These experiences also encourage independence, decision-making and positive interactions with their friends. Every new attempt and little achievement is a reason to celebrate!

Ball play has also brought plenty of opportunities for movement, connection and enjoyment. Whether children are kicking, throwing, rolling or chasing a ball, they are developing coordination, control and spatial awareness. Playing alongside others encourages communication, turn-taking and cooperation, helping children build friendships while learning important skills through active play.

The sandpit has quickly become a place for imagination, exploration and discovery. From digging and filling buckets to building structures and creating imaginary worlds, children are learning through hands-on experiences. They experiment with different ideas, solve problems and explore early mathematical concepts as they compare, fill, pour and build. Just as importantly, the sandpit offers opportunities to share resources, communicate ideas and collaborate with others.

At BestStart Reynolds Green, we understand that these everyday moments are much more than play. They are opportunities for children to develop confidence, independence, creativity and a strong sense of belonging.

Our teachers support this learning by observing children’s interests, engaging in meaningful conversations and providing experiences that encourage them to explore their ideas and extend their learning.

We also recognise the important role our whānau play in each child’s journey. By building trusting relationships with families, listening to their aspirations and celebrating the diverse cultures and experiences they bring, we aim to create a community where everyone feels welcomed, respected and valued.

As a new centre, we are building our story one day at a time.
